St Bernadette's Weekly Bulletin
6th/7th August 2022 Nineteenth Sunday of the Year
God is faithful, and God’s mercies are new every morning. We meet in Christ’s name to celebrate his faithfulness and to seek his help so that we may remain faithful to him.
First Reading Wisdom 18:6-9 Reflecting on the experience of the Exodus from Egypt, the writer describes how the ancient Israelites trusted in a faithful God.
Second Reading Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-19 In this extract from a famous passage about faith, we hear how people in the past trusted God without always seeing God’s promises finally fulfilled.
Gospel Luke 12:32-48 Jesus encourages his disciples always to be ready for his call or his return.

Mass Intentions can still be left in the collection at Masses at the presbytery and these intentions can continue to be said. Everyone is dispensed from the Obligation of Sunday and Holyday mass for the time being. Mass intention envelopes are available at the back of the Church.
Food Sunday continues on the First Sunday of the Month, but food can be brought to the Church at Mass times or the presbytery at any time.
Hospital On-Call Chaplains are operating a 24/7 on-call R.C. Chaplain’s rota in Victoria Hospital. If you need a priest in an emergency, ring the ward and ask them to call the on-call duty R.C. chaplain.
Weekly Offerings. Given the financial ramifications of these times the diocese is asking our parishioners to consider and arrange to keep up their weekly offertory donation, either by setting up a standing order or continuing weekly offerings in Church at Masses. Envelopes and the envelope scheme are available. You could also alternatively send us what you would normally put in the collection via bank transfer. Email us to take up this option. Many thanks.
Newsletters are printed every week and are available at all Masses, as well as being emailed to everyone on the list, and copies left on the Church porch. Please take copies of the newsletter given to people as well as other prayer sheets and cards etc. that I will leave at the back of Church and send by email. The Church Porch will generally be open from 10 am to 1 pm.
Book Exchange is available on the Church Porch. Please help yourself
Lord, we thank you for those men and women
who spend their lives living and working at sea.
May they encounter friendliness in ports, justice at work and a safe return to their loved ones at home. Amen

Holy and Gracious God, We pray for the people of Ukraine and the people of Russia;
for their countries and their leaders.
We pray for all those who are afraid;
that your everlasting arms hold them in this time of great fear.
We pray for all those who have the power over life and death;
that they will choose for all people's life and life in all its fullness.
We pray for those who choose war; that they will remember that you direct your people
to turn our swords into ploughshares and seek peace.
We pray for leaders on the world stage;
that they are inspired by the wisdom and courage of Christ.
Above all, Lord, today we pray for peace for Ukraine.
And we ask this in the name of your blessed Son. Amen
